Sticks For Soldiers
Sticks For Soldiers is a charity lacrosse tournament held in Fairfield, CT to raise money for wounded troops. Varsity teams from Tri- State area high schools will participate in a 7-on-7 tournament game format. Team entry fees, raffles and other fundraising events will be donated to this year's cause. This year, we hope to have 16 teams entered in the tournament. The tournament will start at 9:00 am, and each team should play at least 3 games concluding the day by 3:00 pm.
RULES AND REGULATIONS:
Games will begin with the Horn. There will be five minutes to exit the field and five minutes to prepare for the game.
1) Minimum team size is 15 players. Players must play the ball at all times.
Body checking an opponent to the ground will be a one-minute
unnecessary roughness penalty.
2) Each team must have an adult coach who will be responsible for each team.
3) Teams field 7 players -- 2 attack, 2 midfielders, 2 defenders plus a goalie.
4) Onsides is in effect -- 2 players must be on each side at all times.
5) Each game will consist of one 25 minute running time period. Penalty time
is stop time and will be kept by the official or coach on the sideline. All ties will
be broken by a sudden victory overtime, which will begin immediately
with a face off.
6) Games will begin with a faceoff. Wing Middies must be positioned at the
sideline and midfield line. Defensemen and Attackmen must remain behind
the goal line extended until possession is determined.
7) After a goal is scored, the ball is awarded to the scored upon goalie.
8) Penalties are called and served as they are in regular field lacrosse. Penalty
time does not begin until the penalized player leaves the field.
9) All substitutions are on the fly. Players must touch sticks at the sideline
before entering the field.
10) Team members must wear matching jerseys or tank tops.
11) Maximum of three long poles on the field at a time.
12) If a team scores during a flag-down, Slow-whistle situation, and the infraction
is a personal foul, the offended team will receive the ball at midfield and is
man-up for the duration of the penalty.
